Regular Local Training Sessions and Events

All of our chapters meet on a regular basis, either weekly or fortnightly for training at a central location. Our chapters also help members enter local events such as Park runs and onto regional, national and international event opportunities. We would love to meet anyone wishing to become involved with Achilles - be that as an athlete with any form of disability, or any local runners who would like to help support others as a guide. Assistance with guiding is provided. Please join us.

Auckland

SUNDAY FORTNIGHTLY TRAINING SESSIONS, 8.00AM

Join us every second Sunday for an hour long training and team building session. Meet at 7.45 am for an 8.00 am start. Stay after and grab a coffee too. All athletes, guides and volunteers are welcome.

Training Location

We rotate through six Auckland locations, including:

  • AUT Millennium Running Track, 17 Antares Place, Mairangi Bay, North Shore.
  • Victoria Park. Corner of Fanshaw & Halsey St (Cricket Club Parking Lot)
  • Mission Bay. Tamaki Drive. (Meet by the fountain)
  • Auckland Domain. Meet at the back of Blind Low Vision NZ (formally the Blind Foundation) Entrance to the carpark is either from 545 Parnell Road, Parnell or from Te Toki Street.

Christchurch

SUNDAY FORTNIGHTLY TRAINING SESSIONS, 9.00AM

Achilles Christchurch get together every 2nd Sunday morning, meeting at the Antigua Boat Shed Cafe, for a one hour training run starting at 9.00 am.

WEDNESDAY FORTNIGHTLY TRAINING SESSIONS, 6:15pm

Hamilton

SUNDAY FORTNIGHTLY TRAINING SESSIONS, 8.30am at Verandah Cafe and Function Centre.

WEEKLY WEDNESDAY TRAINING SESSIONS, Starting at 5:30pm at Pirana Park (Cnr Memorial Drive and Anzac Parade) in summer and Porrit Stadium in the winter.

Achilles Hamilton is ideally suited for those in the Waikato. Meeting at the car park by The Verandah Cafe & Function Centre (by Hamilton Lake) in Hamilton.

Invercargill

Training - TBC

Training Location

Meeting at ILT Southland Indoor Stadium

Achilles Invercargill is ideally suited for those in the in ILT Southland.

This Chapter is looking to start up in 2025.

Achilles Taupo meets every Second Sunday morning at 10am. We Meet at the Two Mile Bay Sailing club for a one hour session.

Tauranga

WEDNESDAY WEEKLY TRAINING SESSIONS, 9AM

Achilles Tauranga is ideally suited for those in the Bay of Plenty. Our regular training is held at Tauranga Domain, Athletics Track 9.00am Wednesdays and one a month it is at the Daisy Hardwick Track. Following training, we usually enjoy a coffee!

Achilles Wellington walkers, joggers and runner get together every second Sunday at 9am at the Mojo Waterfront. Please check upcoming dates on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/achilleswellington/

We do an easy one hour session and a friendly chat. All local runners, jogger and walkers as well as athletes of any ability are welcome.

Whangarei

WEDNESDAY WEEKLY SESSIONS, 5:30pm

Training Location

Meeting at small carpark opposite Frings Bar and Eatery, 104 Lower Dent St, Whangarei

Achilles Whangarei welcomes athletes in and around Whangarei, providing a supportive inclusing walking/running/wheeliing environment for all abilities.

Meeting Times:

  • Wednesdays at 5:30 PM – Small car park opposite Frings Bar and Eatery.
  • Sundays at 7:30 AM (by arrangement) – Same location.

To ensure guide availability, please contact Martin in advance. These sessions are part of the Hatea.Run training group.
