An important announcement from our Chair, Jo Walker
Hi Achilles Family!
We have a fantastic announcement that we are incredibly excited to be making. As of the 1st of May, we will have a newly appointed National Manager. John Bowden has been selected for the role and brings with him a wealth of experience in the sport and disability sector.
John has most recently returned to NZ with his two daughters after spending the last four years heading up Athletics Northern Territory. Prior to this John was a National Teams Consultant for Athletics NZ and Coach Performance Manager for Paralympics NZ. He also has an impressive International running acumen of his own as an athlete.
One of John’s first roles as GM will be to touch base with our Achilles community, gather valuable feedback and start implementing systems and processes to get us growing in membership and communicating more effectively with one another as an organisation.
After our AGM on the 21st of May the board and John will be attending a strategy day. Once this has taken place we will be making available our plans for Achilles for the year ahead and ongoing.
We are looking forward to seeing some positive changes over the coming year and hope you can join us in welcoming John to the team.
Onward and upwards!
Jo – Chair of Achilles

Hannah Pascoe: At South Island Para-Cycling Talent Identification and Development Camp
Hannah Pascoe who has taken part in New York twice with Achilles and completed a triathlon recently took part in the South Island Para-Cycling Talent Identification and Development Camp. We are unbelievably proud of Hannah and wish her all the best. To see the full story, follow this link.
Hannah also has recently featured in the Otago Daily Times. This story relates to how she is undertaking the 2016 Dunedin Marathon (her 13th in total) and how her disability brought her out of her shell and now undertaking numerous runs, triathlons etc - an inspiration to many, both with and without disabilities!
